Congratulations Barney on finding your forever home! Although Rover
can't take credit for his adoption, we can certainly celebrate the
great news!
Barney is a loveable, and friendly black male greyhound. He is 2 ½ years old and still looking for his forever home. He has been in a home, since November, with two other greyhounds and two cats. Caution should be used when leaving him alone with cats. He is still a puppy and loves to play. He would probably do best in a home that could give him a lot of attention. He does well with other dogs, but could be fine on his own as long as he is exercised. Children, especially older children would be good for Barney.
Barney loves his squeaky toys, peanut butter filled Kong’s, and the couch. Football Sunday is one of Barney’s favorite days. He also loves anyone that thinks a 70 pound lap dog makes a good companion. He loves contact and interaction with his humans and believes he is and should be the center of attention. As far as we have seen, there isn’t a mean hair on Barney; he is a very happy and friendly dog.
Barney would do best in a home where someone doesn’t have to rush out first thing in the morning. He is a morning dog however, needs time to play and stretch out before being left for the day. He would do great with someone that has older children that like to cuddle and play with a large dog.

Barney’s diary:

Barney was a funny boy this weekend. We took him up to our place up North. He had not been up there for around a month and a half. I had been out and purchased a frog night light that is about the size of a large head of cabbage. It sits on the floor. I turned it on when I got up to our place as I was opening things up and my husband was getting the dogs out of the car. When Barney came up the stairs and into the living room he tuned right into that frog. He ran over to it and pounced at it just staring at it trying to get it to move. He finally gave up when he didn’t get any reaction out of it.

We were trying to get the dogs out and running around the yard to tire them out because we had to run out for the evening. I grabbed a Frisbee that was in the back yard and shook it for a second. Barney got so excited he was spinning in circles like a top for about 5 or 6 turns. Then, when I threw the Frisbee he took off and chased it down. He was so excited to reach where it had landed he instantly took off running laps around the yard. I think we tired him out because after a round of playing in the back yard he ran in the house, grabbed a drink of water and proceeded to curl up on the couch.

Barney likes having his assigned job at the house. When I get home and let the dogs out for the afternoon, he has to grab the Kong’s out of each dogs kennel and bring them up to the living room for me one at a time. He’ll also collect all of the dog toys and bring them up to the living room for me, too. It has become a daily ritual and he knows that is his assignment in the family.

Barney keeps getting all excited when I pull out the peanut butter Kongs in the morning. He runs around the living room like he's trying to get me to catch him, like a game of tag. He'll jump up on the couch and hide so that I can't see him from behind......little does he know his barking gives him away. Finally, when he goes running around me I can get his collar and he settles right down for his day with the rest of the dogs while I am away.
