The Watch Dog: Blue Green Algae Alert

Toxic Blue Green Algae
by: Rover 411

According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), blue green algae has been the killer of several dogs in late September and early October, the start of duck hunting season. Blue green algae is dangerous, as toxins are released when the algae die, causing colors- green and purple. Please be extremely cautious and if the water is pea soup green, don't send your dog in! The deaths occured in in Beaver Dam, Eau Claire County after hunting in Minnesota, and another unspecified location in the state, but is not specific to this area.
