Breed Expert Q&A - Scared Yorky
by: Annette, New Jersey
Q: I have a Yorky who is very scared of everything and when I try to pick her up she thinks she is going to be hit and I would NEVER do that to her. I got her from a puppy mill. Can you tell me if that is her breed or is it from the puppy mill.
A: Hi Annette,
Yorkies are not overly skiddish by nature, as a matter of fact, they tend to be quite the opposite, usually appearing confident and courageous. Most often with dogs as with humans, their temperament is learned from their surroundings. Being from a puppy mill, there is a chance your pup was removed from her mom too soon and/or there was some abuse.
